Feeling bored or frustrated, dealing with corporate politics, excessive collaboration, job insecurity, untenable workloads, unfair treatment, lack of communication and support from leadership, as well as stress and burnout. Each of the above issues triggers employees in different ways, both psychologically as well as physically; however, the common reaction is disengagement. Disengaged employees bring an enormous cost to business – from increased healthcare spending, high employee turnover, absenteeism, poor customer experience to low productivity. For a business to be successful, employees need to have a robust and healthy sense of wellbeing to drive high performance in the workplace. Having healthy, engaged employees means that they bring their whole selves to the workplace – they drive innovation within the business and proudly and passionately work for and feel connected to their organisation. Using a unique scientific understanding of happiness gained from her studies with UC Berkeley and Harvard Business School as well as the lessons gained from her own personal struggle to find balance in the corporate world, Claire Rogers specialises in speaking and training on corporate wellness to support, improve and enhance employee wellbeing, talent retention, productivity and employee engagement. |
“Success does not come from peddling faster;
Yet often we don’t understand the difference between activity and productivity.
But that is where success lies.”

How to thrive in a VUCA world
Time pressures, family pressures, work pressures; how to balance it all without burning out? That’s the question.
Our work has gotten more volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous, putting pressure on all of us to do more with less in all areas of our lives. This can lead to burnout. According to an AXA PPP Healthcare study, a whopping 67% of respondents experience job-related stress and anxiety. It is so prevalent in the workplace today that the World Health Organisation has listed burnout as a syndrome – a group of symptoms that occur together – “conceptualised as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed”. Work stress can truly affect your health. If you’re feeling like you lack energy or experience exhaustion, if you’re feeling negative or cynical toward your job, or just feel like you’ve “checked-out”, and if you’re not feeling as effective as you once did you are already at risk! According to a recent Harvard Business Review study, job burnout accounts for an estimated $125 -190 billion in health care spending every year and has been attributed to a multitude of health problems. This is causing an unprecedented crisis for organisations. The time to address this is now. Whether an employer or employee, this is an epidemic that needs to be addressed for the health and wellbeing of employees as well as the financial health of organisations. |

Learning and Development Workshop series overview:
Workshop 1: Fostering Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace
There are two types of Intelligence: cognitive and emotional. And while you are born with your cognitive abilities, you can develop your emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is often cited as the 6thform of Intelligence and the most important one. It’s estimated that people with high emotional Intelligence make on average, $27,000 per year more than those with low Emotional Intelligence.
Your cognitive abilities will only get you so far; it’s your Emotional Intelligence that allows you to really succeed. And often, it’s our level of Emotional Intelligence which will dictate how unhappy and stressed we are in our lives. Developing your Emotional Intelligence will bring you more peace, more confidence, and more abundance in all areas of life.
After this session, attendees will:

Workshop 2: Managing Stress to Avoid Burnout
Employee burnout is a common phenomenon; however, it is often misunderstood and normalised. Misunderstood because the assumption is is that burnout is an employee problem, rather than a company problem. And, normalised because modern-day work cultures see the majority of employees working in a global environment, covering multiple time zones, leading them to ‘always being on’ and doing more with less.
Burnout impacts businesses through healthcare costs, low productivity and employee engagement, absentee and presenteeism as well as high turnover. To address the issue of burnout, organisations need to not only identify the root causes but also need to understand that success does not come from peddling faster. Employees and organisations often don’t understand the difference between activity and productivity; however, that is where success lies.
In this workshop participants will be immersed in a highly practical and interactive environment where they will learn about the types of stress (good and bad & how to enter the ideal zone of flow state), the causes and physical symptoms of stress and the cognitive distortions caused by stress. By the end of this training, participants will be able to apply tangible solutions to combat stress both in and outside the workplace.

Workshop 3: How to Build Resilience in a VUCA World
In our fast-paced, ever-changing world it can feel like we are spiralling out of control. During the times when things feel volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous, we need to focus on what is and isn’t in our control in order to develop and cultivate a resilient mindset.
In this workshop, participants will learn to navigate the fog and fear of the VUCA world by understanding how thoughts, reasons and beliefs impact our mindset and our ability to adapt to change.

Workshop 4: Managing Interpersonal Conflict in the Workplace
The very nature of being human means we will have conflict in our lives. We all view the world in different ways, that’s a fact, and it’s a fact that creates conflict.
Interpersonal conflict is one of the most common reasons that people leave their jobs because workplaces often do not address the elephant in the room. Interpersonal disputes that are not resolved result in employees either stifling their feelings by going along to get along or results in disagreeable, unproductive confrontations that impact employee morale and customer experience. Research suggests that if employees are harbouring grudges, they may be less productive, less collaborative, less engaged and more stressed and aggressive. Moreover, interpersonal conflict left unaddressed will commonly result in employee attrition.
